Long drive to Deer Island so prepare to stay the whole day snd tour the whole place. Go to El El Frijoles for lunch or dinner!

Beautiful mostly flat walk through a mossy forest to truly lovely, small sandy beach with great views. Check the tide charts and plan your visit to arrive near low tide so you can access the near island via the sand bar..Please mind the tides, the sand bar, and your way back disapears at high tide.

Best hike in the area. Easy. Beautiful view. Make sure you time it around low tide; or you won’t make it across the bar.

There is a fun hike in Deer Isle called the Barred Island Preserve managed by the Island Heritage Trust (you park at Goose Cove Resort) and owned by The Nature Conservancy. It ends in a gorgeous double-sided beach (time the tides right to make it even better).
