With their landmark Mermaid Gin and Mermaid Pink Gin, you can now do a 'tour' of the distillery. The gin isn't cheap, but the quality is, without doubt, very high.

Pondwell Hill, Ryde – 01983 613653 – home of Mermaid gin, visit the Mermaid Bar for regular talks and tastings, food served but phone ahead to check availability or their Facebook page for what’s on. Handily opposite a bus stop if you plan to sample all their range – route 8 from Ryde to the Wishing Well stop.

The home of the island's own Mermaid Gin. Excellent little distillery where you can book to see how the gin is made and then have a few tastes. They use hops from Ventnor, samphire from the local shores and all presented in stunning bottles made from recycled glass. We really like the Pink Gin, flavoured with island strawberries. Cheers!
