The Book Thing is one of those places that make Baltimore what it is. If you love books don't miss a trip here. The Book Thing is open to everyone from all walks of life to take as many books as they like for free. No strings attached.

The Book Thing is a free exchange of books. That's pretty much it. You can find your typical stuff, and also random things like old yearbooks and textbooks. There's no need to donate in order to take a book - but if you're looking to give something up, they welcome additions.

This unbelievable institution is a vast, COMPLETELY FREE book store. Technically a non-profit that recycles discarded books, peruse the shelves for anything and everything you've been looking for -- the staff provides boxes so you can tote out all your finds. Only open on Saturdays and Sundays, you can walk out with as many books as you like. And if you happen to have an old book that needs a good home? Donations are welcome, but not necessary, to come out with a winner.
