A justly famous castle- over restored in the 19th century and crowded in the summer but worth seeing all the same. Go early in the morning to avoid some of the crowds. 40 mins from us.

The citadel of Carcassonne is quintessential Languedoc: a medieval fortress listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is very touristy but worth exploring.

Just 30mn from La Redorte is the fortified Medieval walled city of Carcassonne, made famous in the Kevin Costner film ' Prince of Thieves'. Steeped in history, entirely magical, a must see!
