The Dutchess Rail Trail is a 13-mile rail trail that stretches from the former Hopewell Junction train depot, north to the Poughkeepsie entrance of the Walkway over the Hudson. It's a shared use rail trail open for pedestrians and bicyclers. The Dutchess Rail Trail forms part of the Empire State Trail.

Take a familiar walk, run, or bike through Hopewell, Wappingers, Red Oaks Mill, and Poughkeepsie on a journey to reach the beloved Walkway Over the Hudson. With a smoothly paved road on one side and a dirt path on the other, visitors can choose their preferred terrain to travel.

Rail Trail connects to the Walkway Over The Hudson and extends all the way down to Hopewell Junction. A lovely ride, and paved for the majority of the trail.
