Also known as the Holy Mountain, Mount Athos is the oldest monastic republic still standing. It is a sacred land which must have definitely been blessed by God, also famous as the garden of Virgin Mary. It comprises of 20 monasteries that are encircled by abundant greenery and entrance is strictly prohibited to women.
