A ‘fun’ drive through wonderful scenery. Local cask ales, good pub food, specials’ nights, burgers, pies, steak etc. Very dog friendly, it even has a dog menu! A firm local favourite. Not open all week, (currently Thursday to Sunday) check the website or social media pages, as it changes .££

This pub is approximately a 15min drive away, but it is the loveliest, proper Yorkshire country pub around. Serving a wide range of pub classics, it’s a great place to go after a walk or to enjoy a pint. There is a fantastic circular walk starting in Cowesby (the next door village), which takes you up to the moors and through a beautiful Rhododendron tunnel back into Cowesby – we would recommend doing then and then heading to the Dog & Gun after. You do need to book though – they are very popular.
