Picnic Bay Jetty is iconic to Magnetic Island. It is Heritage Listed and a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike. Great fishing or just take a stroll along the Jetty. Awesome for families and special photo opportunities.

Picnic Bay jetty is a heritage listed jetty on the Esplanade at Picnic Bay, Magnetic Island. It was built between 1959 and 1977, and added to the Queensland Heritage Register. in April 2004. Originally this was the main access point to Magnetic Island, but repeated damage seen to it from cyclone after cyclone has resulted in the building of the Nelly Bay Terminal which now provides safe all weather access. The jetty is a photographers dream, and there are literally thousands of images available online of this beautiful bay and jetty. It’s also a fisherman’s paradise. No matter if it’s a rod or hand line, your bound to catch something.

Picnic Bay has a long jetty with a covered area at the end from where you can see Townsville. Great for a leisurely stroll there is usually a good breeze and you can see fish over the side. There are a few places to eat including a pub along the shore front which also has a cool, paved area shaded by huge trees. There is also a stinger net up during stinger season but still wear a stinger suit as irikandji can get through.

Great for fishing or an afternoon stroll. Also venture out after dark and you will see the end of the jetty lit up under water.

The jetty at Picnic Bay is a great place for a casual stroll or grab some bait and tackle and catch a fish for dinner. (Visit Fish'n N Fuel'n in Nelly Bay for all of your hire fishing gear).
