Bob Robert's Spotlight Tattoo

This is one of the oldest shops in West LA. Ask for Charlie Roberts, his father Bob is a legendary tattooer and they do that badass old-school American-style tattooing. Real traditional. The shop is in a super convenient location on Melrose. I used to work here. So has Baby Ray, a friend who has tattooed me. He’s self-taught and was one of the pioneers that brought black-and-gray tattoos out of the jails. His conversation is almost more important than the tattoo itself—that’s what you want. He’s by appointment only now; look him up.
