The Bastion, also known as the Nanaimo Bastion, is an historic octagonal shaped bastion or fortification located at 98 Front Street. When you visit The Bastion explore part of Nanaimo's waterfront while you stroll the shops and cafes on the boardwalk at the marina. Take a walk up Bastion Street to Commercial Street for more unique shops and restaurants. Don't forget to stop at Mon Petit Choux, located at 120 Commercial Street, for a fresh pastry and a special french cafe or enjoy a delicious lunch.

The Bastion, also known as the Nanaimo Bastion, is an historic octagonal shaped bastion or fortification located at 98 Front Street in Nanaimo. It has been called "Nanaimo's premier landmark", because of its shape and its "high visibility from both land and sea. Today the Bastion is open to visitors during the summer. The Nanaimo Museum has heritage interpreters in costume on-site, and also hosts a daily cannon firing at noon during the summer months.
