Το ανάκτορο των Μαλίων είναι το τρίτο σε μέγεθος σημαντικότερο παλάτι στην Κρήτη, με έκταση 7.500 τ.μ., μετά τα παλάτια της Κνωσού και της Φαιστού. Σύμφωνα με την μυθολογία εδώ βασίλευε ο Σαρπηδόνας, αδελφός του Μίνωα και γιός του Δία και της Ευρώπης.

Πρόκειτε για το τρίτο σε μέγεθος μινωικό ανάκτορο της Κρήτης. Το ανάκτορο χτίστηκε για πρώτη φορά το 1900 π.Χ. Το αρχαίο όνομα του είναι σήμερα άγνωστο, ωστόσο έχει υποτεθεί ότι στη θέση αυτή βρισκόταν η Μίλατος με βασιλιά το Σαρπηδώνα, γιο του Δία και της Ευρώπης και νεότερο αδερφό του Μίνωα.

The Malia Palace found is the third largest palace of Minoan Crete. It occupies 7500 square meters near Hersonissos in Northern Crete. It was first built around 1900 BC, a time of feverish development for the entire island population. It was destroyed by unknown reasons around 1650 before it was immediately rebuilt. It a big must for everyone. Tip: if you visit it during the summer months, make sure you visit either very early say 9am or make sure you have a bottle of water to stay hydrated, since it can get very hot.
