Great stop if planning to go out to beautiful Bodega Bay for the day. The little country town of Sebastopol, once known for its aging hippy community, now boasts claim to the hippest new food and wine destination in Sonoma: The Barlow. A smattering of stores and art galleries lend a well-rounded approach to the 220,000-square-foot concept, but the real draw are the artisan wine, beer, coffee, and food operations. Wine tasting rooms include Wind Gap, known for Syrah, and MacPhail, loved for its Pinot Noirs. Taylor Maid Farms roasts and sells coffee on-site. Breweries have sprung up, as has a distillery -- Spirit Works. Pizza lovers can tuck into crisp Neopolitan style pies from Vignette, and on-premise butchering and curing of charcuterie is one of many culinary challenges the hands-on husband and wife team at zazu kitchen + farm, master successfully.

POINT REYES LIGHTHOUSE AND COWGIRL CREAMERY Technically in Marin County, both destinations warrant the half day’s drive through spectacular country and coastal California scenery. Located on the windiest point of the Pacific Coast (and second foggiest), the circa-1870 Point Reyes Lighthouse, now decommissioned, warned sailors of impending collision with fog-enshrouded shores. Lighthouse-bound visitors must first pass through the offbeat village of Point Reyes, so stop to sample critically acclaimed Cowgirl Creamery’s cheeses. Be forewarned – the drive to the lighthouse takes a deceptively long time, is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and the stairs down to the small beacon lock at 4:30 p.m. However, the journey, in this case, counts more than the destination.

Protected by a bay from the wild whims of the Pacific Ocean, Bodega Bay is a picturesque fishing village on the Sonoma Coast that harbors sights, sounds, and activities — by land or by sea — that calls to the adventurer in all of us. Bodega Head, a rocky cliff that overlooks the ocean, is perfect to stroll along the cliffs, hike up the surrounding hills, watch for migrating whales, or simply lay the car seat back and take a quick nap. Before you arrive, swing by Spud Point Crab Co. for some clam chowder and a crab sandwich for an impromptu picnic on the cliffs. There are many things to do in Bodega Bay. Find secret coves and beaches by paddling on a kayak during a guided tour. Discover your inner Beach Boy by taking surfing lessons from Bodega Bay Surf Shack. Catch your own dinner on a fishing cruise from Miss Anita Fishing Charters or Bodega Bay Sport Fishing Center. Fisherman’s Cove offers fishing tackle, picnic supplies, fresh seafood — especially the oysters — and chowders for those who are taking out their own boats. Head indoors and grab a bite to eat. A good meal with a great view can be found at the Tides Wharf Restaurant. As you head north, you’ll pass public, yet protected, beaches that are part of the Sonoma Coast State Beach. Driving just a few miles inland, you’ll reach the tiny town of Bodega. This was the setting for Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, which still gives viewers a temporary case of ornithophobia 50 years after its release.

The Golden Gate Bridge is located at the Presidio Park and can easily be reached by bus or car. The most pleasant way to reach the bridge however is by walking either from the Marina District to the east or from Baker Beach to the west of the bridge. Both routes will lead you through a park, and especially the route along the east is very popular.

The Fisherman's Wharf is one of San Francisco's great tourist spots! There's lots of restaurants, gift shops and attractions on this pier. One of the great attractions they have is the SF Bay Aquarium! Before you enter the aquarium you pass by their gift shop where they have tons of toys even from Finding Dory! The only downside to Pier 39 is the parking garage, especially on the weekends. One word of advice is to get there early or you'll be stuck trying to find parking. Also remember to get your parking validated when you eat at one of the restaurants! Overall Fisherman's Wharf is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm in SF. Please stop when you get the chance you won't be disappointed!

San Francisco famously boasts some of the steepest streets in the country. Whether you’re walking or driving, the varying gradient of the road is sure to catch your attention and give your heart rate a healthy boost. Lombard Street is one of the most unique of the vertically endowed roads and is a great stop to add to any itinerary. Lombard Street in San Francisco is one of America's crookedest streets and found on many tours. The steep, hilly street was created with sharp curves to switchback down the one-way hill past beautiful Victorian mansions. If not for the byzantine curves, easing out this treacherous slope, people could be killed rolling down. For an idea of how steep this street really is, go two blocks up, to Filbert Street and peer down over the ridge. Lombard is even steeper. Some of San Francisco’s most expensive real estate sits on Lombard Street. This Russian Hill neighborhood possesses stately mansions even with the endless array of tourists pouring down the street every day. In the spring and through the entire summer, Lombard Street is alive with color, as the many beautiful flowers are in bloom.

Coit Tower sits atop Telegraph Hill, looming over the eastern side of San Francisco with its almost regal presence. It serves as a directional marker for people lost in the mazes of city streets, but with its rich history and its excellent viewpoint, Coit Tower offers much more than just a way to find out where you are in the city. Because of heavy traffic in the area, the best way to get up to Coit Tower is to walk through the energetic streets of North Beach to Filbert Street. The hill is one of the steepest short distances in San Francisco, but the street has steps to make the trek a little bit easier. For a break, pause halfway up and turn to the west to get a glimpse of the great view you will be seeing shortly. There are also many San Francisco limousine tours that can make your Coit Tower tour comfortable, while avoiding any parking hassles in this busy area. The San Francisco bus system offers a convenient trip up to Coit Tower via the #39 Coit bus from Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf Coit Tower Hours 10am - 6pm May-October 10am-5pm November-April
