If you're a traditionalist head to Monarch Cakes, the oldest in the strip (est 1934). But in my opinion all the cake shops and restaurants in Acland St are fantastic, 4-5 min walk and you're there!

Known as The St Kilda Pavilion, an impressive café with a deck and panoramic bay views. Past the café is a rocky breakwater, walk around and look between the rocks, we spotted a quite a few penguins.
