Parks & Nature

My favourite park in the city no doubt!! Not only it's very beautiful but it has stunning views from the top down to the Bosporus and the surrounding areas like Nisantasi and Harbiye. For a special treat, get on the telepheric and and enjoy the view from above in a ski-like cabin. It's a short but sweet ride! The park is super doggy friendly and there are antique marble water fountains and clean toilets. It's a joy to sit there and let the hours pass while enjoying the shade and looking at doggies play with each other.

This gorgeous little park is adorable! It's an oasis in the middle of Besiktas and just 2 minutes walk from my flat. There's a tiny entrance fee of 1 tl (about 35 euro cents), but this assures you to enjoy plenty of peace and quiet in a very distinct and elegant setting. The gardens are immaculate and kept in shape and clean. There are also some peacocks at the gardens and a classic XIX Cnt. building to adorn the park.

Shopping

The largest indoor shopping centre in Turkey, and a few years ago in all of Europe. Cevahir is very popular with Middle Eastern ppl and locals alike. It carries all the famous and popular brands like H&M, Debenhams, Marks & Spencer, C&A, Mango, Zara, Nike, Puma, Adidas, Tchibo, etc etc. Basically any brand you might find there! Includes a huge selection of Turkish and American food places.

Only 6 minutes walk from my location, this shopping mall has a cinema and most of the popular brand names like The Gap, Banana Republic, H&M, Mango, Zara and an array of Turkish brands.

This conservative district is often overlooked by most tourists and locals. I find it quite enchanting bcse it's a bustling lively district with plenty of Ottoman and old buildings, narrow cute streets where life is lived at every moment. There are plenty of old and beautiful mosques to visit. Many tasty and more affordable restaurants, cafe houses (cai evi) a good hammam and some stunning antique wooden houses with a great view of the European side. From Besiktas it only takes 5 minutes on the ferry to cross from "Europe to Asia". Hop on a ferry (they take off every 10 min) and 5 minutes after, you'll be at the Asian side!

Essentials

There's everything in Besiktas and it's one of the most open minded districts of the city, therefore it's really nice to stroll around and bump into nice people and cute and original coffee shops and restaurants.

The metro stop is 15 min walk from the flat. You'll pass chic Nisantasi both ways to and from the house. Nisantasi is a very beautiful and elegant district worth seeing and visiting for shopping, eating or visiting a gallery.
