Relaxing getaway to see some of the most beautiful trees, plants, and flowers in the area. Also has indoor cafe and a fun (pretty large) outdoor kids' park.

This incredible place is a 1,700-acre living museum, which champions trees throughout the world through scientific study, conservation, and advocacy. They have various events throughout the year --like a troll hunt and their famous Christmas lights display in the winter. Admission is about $7-10/per person, with discounted rates offered for children and seniors.

You'll have to rent a car (or hire an uber) to visit the Morton Arboretum from Chicago since there isn't a public transport/train option. This is a great day trip: There are many miles of hiking and driving paths with a varied amount of open fields, prairies, hedges, flowers, international tree selections, different densities of forests, ponds, swamps, etc. A Disneyland for horticulture! (bring the bug spray...and bikes if you have them)
