Kangaroo Island has had a history of honey production for almost as long as it has been settled and is home to the unique Ligurian bees which produce some of the finest honey in Australia.

The wilderness areas on the farm have seen the inhabitants of the unique Kangaroo Island colony of pure ligurian bees. Some of the organic honey produced by the Island Beehive Company is collected locally from De Mole farm.

Island Beehive is a Tourist Centre on the outskirts of Kingscote, established by Peter Davis who is committed to the protection of the Ligurian Bee heritage. It has excellent facilities and is wheelchair friendly throughout.
