Chauvigny is a beautiful old city, on the river Gartempe. It has a spectacular set of ruins perched on a rock with panoramic views across the countryside. From here, there are daily exhibitions of bird flight - eagles soaring above, vultures, owls, parrots - even kookaburras - all perfectly trained and shown at an amphitheatre in the ruined castle. In the city itself, there are shops and restaurants and a market twice a week. Also a velo-rail: a 2 hour trip of 17 kms through pretty countryside.

Chauvigny is a 30 minute drive and 20 km from Poitiers. This medieval town has 5 castles, including the ruined baronial Chateau d' Eveques, with its famous falconry show. Cite Medievale Venez vicre des experiences indeites, a 20 min de poitiers et du Futuroscope

A medieval town, with the ruins of 5 chateaux still visible on the hilltop, Very pretty and worth visiting for the views, the narrow streets as well as a daily show "The Giants of the Skies" featuring large birds such as eagles, vultures, falcons, etc. There is also a velo-rail much enjoyed by families

This historic town has a regular display of birds of prey up in the old castle. There are frequent antique and food markets. If you feel energetic try riding the Velo that runs along the viaduct and gives you a splendid aerial view of the city.
