A little bit remote and hard to find, this track is a steep 30-40mins up to a small dam. From there you walk along a pipeline to a platform with mind-blowing views back across towards Queenstown.

This track actually goes all the way up and over the Remarkables, but you can keep it short and sweet by just going as far as the plateau where you can have a picnic and watch the rock climbers do some hard work. It's relatively steep, but it only takes about an hour to get there, and the views are very rewarding.

This is the Rock climbing area of Queenstown and some great walks, long or short, camp overnight up to you.

OK, definitely one of my absolutely favourite local walks. But the first 30 minutes is a solid uphill slog, following by crossing a path built over a water pipe. The track is very safe, but if you don't have a head for heights, the pipe section might be challenging. I'm not great with heights, and manage this ok, because the views from the platform on a clear day are well worth the effort!
