Tomaree National Park and bushland habitats around Anna Bay are home to one of the last remaining koala populations on the east coast of Australia. Port Stephens Council in partnership with Port Stephens Koalas has created a Koala Sanctuary to ensure first-class care to sick, injured and orphaned koalas. Opened in 2020, the Koala Sanctuary offers visitors a unique opportunity to see koalas in their natural habitat. It will also support their long-term rehabilitation and preservation. Enjoy the tranquil bush and the striking view of Port Stephens and offshore islands from the top of Tomaree Headland Lookout. One of Australia's most extraordinary marine playgrounds, the Great Lakes Marine Park is something to behold. The Park is home to many species; dolphins, turtles, fish, seabirds, sponge gardens, mangroves, saltmarshes, as well as some very special threatened species and Indigenous heritage sites.

With spectacular views of all of Port Stephens this mountain hike is a must! Despite it being a mountain, the climb up is well paved with stairs and railings to help those who might loose their breath and balance.
