Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum A museum housed in a genuine WWII Aircraft Carrier – and a guided missile submarine – moored in the Hudson River! But it’s not stuck in the distant past. Yes, there are some 30 restored vintage aircraft displayed on Intrepid’s flight deck, but there’s also a British Airways Concorde nearby, the very plane that set the record for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic Ocean. Intrepid also served as a recovery vessel for NASA’s 1960s Space Program, and in the Space Shuttle Pavilion you can see Enterprise, the prototype that started off the success story. In all, there are 17 dynamic exhibition zones dedicated to the shuttle era.
