This is one of our family's favorite hikes. Whether you take the fire road (easier) or the trail (a bit more strenuous), it's a gorgeous and peaceful walk without too much company. And the trail ends at a giant blueberry patch, ripe for the picking.

Harvey Mountain is the highest peak in Columbia County. The Lodge is located at the base of Harvey Mountain which is a NYS Forest. It offers great hiking. If you want to take a long hike you can walk to the top from the Lodge! Just continue up the dirt road, take the right fork and keep going straight for about 30 minutes til you reach a clearing. Walk through the clearing until you get to the dirt road. Take a left and walk about a 1/4 mile until you see the trail head on the right. That will take you to the top. The views are spectacular! It will take you an hour or so each way. If you want to take the short route you can drive to the trailhead and just walk 1/2 mile to the top. At the top you will find a mountain top covered in blueberries which are in season mid-July! You will also see both the Catskill and the Berkshire Mountains and great sunsets or sunrises!
