We are next to a >1400 acre nature preserve with 5 miles of trails. Appalachian Trail (McAfee Knob), Blue Ridge Highway, Smith Mountain Lake, James River, wineries, breweries, shopping are close by. 18 min to Roanoke College and 40 minutes to Virginia Tech. The Shepherdess Cottage

PLEASE READ ALL the information about this listing . The Shepherdess Cottage" is a sweet place to visit. It has view of Cahas Mountain in Franklin County, Virginia. This cottage has 2 bedrooms and a bath. A large kitchen open to great room. Total space is 800 sq.feet. (Not including huge porches) This home is in rural setting. There are other houses around that can be seen . The road can be busy at certain times of day. The house used to be a one room school house in early 1900's.

Amazing handcrafted cabin located in the center of the "Roanoke Triple Crown" (McAfee's Knob, tinker cliffs and dragons tooth trails) just minutes from each trail head. Cabin was sustainability built with trees from the 20 acres it sits on. McAfee's Knob trailhead is 10 minutes away, Andy Layne trailhead to tinker cliffs is 9 minutes away.
