The forest closest by. Its called a forest but is actually a park. Great for a short walk but it connects to a lot of other bigger forests. We walk our dog here every day. The Baarnse Bos is a forest of about 80 hectares in front of Paleis Soestdijk. The forest lies on a spur of Utrechtse Heuvelrug in a series of separate country estates. It lies on the transition from densely wooded higher soils on the moraine to the lower pasture areas towards the Eem. It is one of the few preserved eighteenth-century park forests in the Netherlands.

The Pluismeer is a small lake in the nature reserve south of Lage Vuursche in the Laagte van Pijnenburg. Het Pluismeer borders the De Stulp nature reserve. In 1996, the Pluismeer was cleaned, so that on the poor sandy soil a fen vegetation (sundew, white beak, bell gentian, peat fluff) got a chance. The name is derived from the many wollegras that grow around the lake. Cows graze on some of the terrain around it. There is a bird watching hut near the Pluismeertje. The area is located on a hiking trail from Lage Vuursche. In the winter the shallow lake is popular with ice skaters.
