This place has to be seen, you should make a day out of it. Hiking trails are available from the site but you can also walk along side the lakes. There is a Celtic cemetery on the site and a hotel where refreshments can be had. In the summer months it can also be a fantastic spot for a picnic. This place can be a bit busy in the summer but it is vast and it will never feel crowded. In the winter months it has a special feel to it, quite mystic if you ask me. I love it in all seasons. On your way in or back from Glendalough, I advise you to stop for a bite or a drink in a the Wicklow Heather Restaurant.

Service is impeccable, the owner is a former sommelier so you can trust your wine will be good. You can chose between the restaurant menu or the gastro pub one, they also do bar bites and have a rooftop bar with fab cocktails.
