The zoo is spacious and you are away from traffic!
If you are in to nature, the Artis zoo is a tram ride away, is spacious, away from traffic and has beautiful trees and green. And animals of course..
The butterfly garden is big and impressive, with a cabinet where butterflies that just came out of their cocoon are waiting to dry.
We visit the Aquarium or the the Planetarium on rainy days.

The Vondelpark is a 20 minute walk from home. It has plenty of grass for picknicks, and several cafes.

We live right next to the 9 streets (the 9 straatjes). They form a square of 3 times 3 side streets between the Prinsengracht canal and the Singel canal. Cross the closest bridge over the canal to arrive at the middle 3 streets.

Food Scene
De Hallen offers a big indoor food hall with many stalls and seats, very popular. Located in the old tram parking. About 10 minutes walking from home.

At Fou Fow Ramen (couple of steps away) there often is a line for noodles in broth. I heard the salmon side dish and the spinach side dish are tasty too.

The Maritime museum has section with a tour through the modern Amsterdam port and outdoors you can set foot onto a real size replica of a ship the VOC (united east indies company) sailed with in the 1600's!

An excellent menu in cafe with view of Amsterdam from the other side of the IJ and the many boats sailing the IJ. While there, check out the old Shell headquarters that offer a fabulous view on the town.
