This is hands down the best and closest waterfall within a 30-40 minute radius around. Pack a swimsuit and some good hiking shoes because the land gets steep and the water is the cleanest around.

Drinks & Nightlife

Every Wednesday @ the Jack of the Wood there is an Old time jam. This is traditional music of the mountain people that have lived here for many generations. Its not bluegrass. Its Old Time.

The Lay of the Land: Summer Haven is a private group of homeowners with large tracts of privately owned land adjoining, which borders the Asheville watershed and national forest. Both trailheads are right off the property at the corner of the wooden shed. The novice trail starts at the corner of the shed, levels off, and turns into a easy logging road . The other goes to the top of the mountain and is much more of a workout and trek. Novice trail: If you stay horizontal from the start there is a nice bowl filled with an amazing diversity of medicinal plants and trees. 50 feet up the little creek there is a nice level spot to play around. If you decide to go a little further, there’s a logging road that wind around the mountain and branches off a few times. It’s pretty easy to remember your way back home and watch out for poison ivy. ;) Intermediate to advanced trail: Eden Rock time: 1 hour slowly trekking up and 40 minutes down. The trailhead is at the corner of the wooden shed. This trail takes about 30 to 40 minutes to get to the top. Once up there you can hike for an indefinite amount of time. Take a left once you get to the top, go 15 more minutes and you get to a large sun rock with amazing views. (Eden Rock) A camp owns this ridge top, which is why it’s so well preserved. On the return make sure you stay right of the rhododendron when you start the descent. Don't go down the obvious logging road to the left. What to bring: Take your cell phone, a flashlight, something warm, snacks and water. The bears up there are special and very afraid of people so if you see one before they see you make noise. Clap your hands if you're happy and you know it, and they'll move out fast
