The soups here are authentic, delicious and available at all hours of the night! You can also get what's called a "Poike" (pronounced Poy-keh) which is a slow cooked meat stew in a cast iron pot brought directly to your table. SO good! Plus they have beer on tap :)

Drinks & Nightlife

With over 100 local beers, this place has got it all. Located in the Shuk Machaneh Yehudah, it's a great place to grab a beer and mingle with local Israelis. Not only is their beer selection fantastic, their food is also pretty spectacular: Pastrami sandwiches, homemade hotdogs, really really really good. They also have a great hard cider, served warm.

The Shuk is a MUST see. Go on Thursday night for the nightlife scene, where you can sample probably any type of food you want, grab a drink and sit down and mingle with the people. There's always live music and the shuk is always fun. Friday's the shuk is the ultimate tourist destination- vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and fish, spices and oils, you'll feel like you're transported to another world.

Inside the Mamilla hotel, on the 8th floor is an amazing bar overlooking the old city. It's harder to get better views than from up there. It's a bit pricey but the ambience, the drinks and the quality of food make up for it.

Sightseeing

The Ein Karem is so picturesque. Old monasteries, stunning views of the Jerusalem forests and great restaurants, you could spend a few hours there. It's a bit off the beaten path and you'll need a car but it's both a great day and night destination.
