The diverse products you can find here include functional kitchenware to trendy clothes and amazing technology accessories. Besides, there are also plenty of promotions and sale outlets throughout the year making Saigon Square a favorite shopping spot for Vietnamese youngsters as well as international tourists. As far as we are concerned, the Hai Ba Trung branch has more promotions and discounts while Saigon Square in Nam Ky Khoi Nghia is much more crowded and the goods are slightly superior and more expensive.

When you set foot outside around lunchtime in this city, you’ll understand why most people do everything they can to avoid the midday sun. It’ll cook you in minutes, leaving you burnt and miserable. That’s why you should leave the best for dusk, when the sun glows orange on the smoggy horizon and the heat tapers off. For one of the best dining experiences in the city, head to The Deck!

When it comes to round-the-clock dining in Ho Chi Minh City, Din Ky Restaurant – known locally as Nhà hàng Dìn Ký – has been the place to go for many years. As the name suggests, this quirky little cafe is an ideal place to enjoy a cupcake alongside a cup of tea. To make this place even cuter, FLY actually stands for “Forever Love You” – which is exactly what you’ll do after a bite of one of their many cupcakes on display. Their cakes aren’t overly sweet but they have a perfect spongey texture, delightfully creamy frosting, and are adorably decorated. Make sure to try their “Queen Velvet” cupcake, and if you’re on the go, sample a variety of these little delights with a takeaway box to share with some friends (or not)!

For history buffs, the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, is an absolute must. This is the site of those famous images of tanks crashing through gates during the Fall of Saigon in 1975. Aside from the stunning grounds and impressive architecture, the inside of this building almost feels like you’ve gone back in time. You can see where the southern government operated the executive branch during the Vietnam War – even the bomb bunker in the basement, where the maps still hang on the walls. The Palace is depicted on the 200-đồng note of the Republic of Vietnam.

You probably won’t leave this museum feeling too good about humanity, but that’s the point. This museum is there to remind us of the horrors of war. For most people around the world, the Vietnam War is something that happened in a faraway time and place – not for Vietnamese people, though. This museum takes an abstract conflict and shows us the real people it affected. It shows the struggles endured by the Vietnamese people. This museum plays an important role in the healing process for Vietnam, by showing visitors from around the world how the war changed this nation.

Buddha Bar has become the home bar for many people in Thao Dien. Their food and drinks are good, but it’s the atmosphere that elevates them above the competition. If you tire of the city’s elegant French architectural styles or its industrial vibes, head to District 5, the Saigon’s Chinatown and stroll along Binh Tay Market (widely known as Cholon), spying on traditional Chinese family shops and authentic Chinese food. Church of Saint Francis Xavier, staying in the heart of Chinatown can be an antidote to all that consumerism – a complex built in the early 1990s witnessed a historical incident when the South Vietnam President Ngo Dinh Diem and his brother were seized in 1963 after a successful military coup. The neighbourhood has an old Saigon feel, warmed up by its distinctive architecture and retro-feel decoration.
