Firemen’s Park
A two-minute walk from "The Quarters" and the "Ferndale Barndominium" and a great playground for young children. For adults, a wonderful bocce court. Head to J&W Liquors (a block from The Quarters) for info on borrowing bocce balls. (Not sure why Airbnb had photos of Cemetery instead of park!)

Ferndale history is fascinating. The museum is kid-friendly, interesting and engaging. It's located five-minutes from The Quarters.

Russ Park is a 100-acre nature preserve that offers great hiking and bird watching. Leaving The Quarters and The Barndominium, turn right at Ocean & Main. Entrance on right w/signs & gravel parking lot. Pack a picnic!

Don't mind the gravel road that leads to this hiking spot. It's well worth the dirty car! We love heading down to the beach and the hike burns off a few calories! The spot is maintained by BLM.

It'll take you about 90 minutes to drive to Fern Canyon from Ferndale. It's out of this world (featured in "Jurassic Park.") In winter, the road is a bit dodgy. Check ahead.

Trinidad is a beautiful coastal village; about a 45 minute drive from Ferndale. Best blackberry pancakes and milk shakes at restaurant on pier. Beaches are wonderful. Well worth drive.

Just a ten-minute beautiful drive from the Airbnb is an incredible part of the California coast. The Fleener's Creek trailhead is the perfect spot to take in the unspoiled view and the easy hike leads one to a deserted beach. We love packing a picnic and enjoying all that the Lost Coast Headlands has to offer. It is maintained by the Bureau of Land Management and they do a great job. Look for seals, pelicans and whales going by in the vast pacific!

Tell Lowell (the host/owner) you are our guests & he promises he'll give you a great table with a view of Main St. (Half-rack of ribs with sweet potato fries and coleslaw is our "must-have" meal. To die for!)

We love Tuyas! Open all the time with a fantastic online ordering option. The nacho bites are addicting. Glory and her staff do an amazing job. The new sports bar next door is a great place to grab a beer and watch a game. Just a two minute walk from us.
