We strongly recommend you buy your meat from Tahlo Avenida; in general meat can be quite tough in the Algarve. You can pre-order food for your BBQ.

This is the place to go for all your fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. It’s open Monday to Saturday. It’s open from around 7am to 1pm. The market is located on the southern bank on the eastern side of the town. The market is located on the Avenida Don Manuel I, this is the main road which crosses the Rio Gilao on the eastern side of the town. The market is a bland low-rise building with a massive market sign.

Municipal Market Tavira
This is the place to go for all your fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. It’s open Monday to Saturday. It’s open from around 7am to 1pm. The market is located on the southern bank on the eastern side of the town. Associacao Agro Cinegetica Estorninhos
Turn right out of house and walk or drive approximately 2km, direction Estorninhos. You’ll see a recently built unimpressive white house on the right side. No signs of restaurant outside – except for an ice cream-menu. The food is excellent but the service can be slow....we highly recommend you order fish. It’s run by Marcia and Orlando. Marcia prepares all the food from scratch so expect a (long) wait – but it’s well worth it. People are very typical of the area and very nice – it's pure countrylife!
You can ask Marcia in advance to prepare typical local dishes that aren’t always on the menu, such as rabbit stew etc.

Praia do Amado
Beautiful wild and (out of season) empty beaches
Take the motorway direction Faro and stay on it until Lagos (1 h). Follow the signs Vale d'Obispo and Sagres. Just behind Sagres lies Cabo de Sao Vicente, the most south-westerly point of Europe. Beautiful cliffs, fantastic waves – and the closest point to America in Europe.
Leaving out Cabo de Sao Vicente you can also turn right in Vale d'Obispo, direction Aljezur. The road leads parallel to the westcoast, which is full of beautiful wild and (out of season) empty beaches. Two of the nicest are Praia do Amado and Praia da Bordeira (behind Carapateiras). If you turn left before or after Carapateiras you cannot miss it as a dust road leads along the stunning coastline.
