Guardalavaca is a resort on Cuba’s northern coast. It’s known for its stretches of fine sand, including Esmeralda and Pesquero beaches. The clear waters have extensive offshore coral reefs with abundant marine life. In a deep bay west of the town, dolphins and sea lions perform at the Cayo Naranjo Aquarium. Inland, the Chorro de Maíta Museum exhibits skeletons and artifacts from the region’s pre-Columbian people.

It was the first National Park created in Cuba in 1930,[2] and covers an area of 185.37 km2. It is located in the heights of Sierra Cristal (Cristal Mountains), one of the highest mountain range in Cuba (second only to Sierra Maestra). Cristal Peak (Pico Cristal) reaches an elevation of 1,300 m (4,300 ft). The ranges are dominated by pine forests. Cuban pine (Pinus cubensis) can reach heights of 30 m (98 ft) in this area. The endangered Cuban solenodon (Solenodon cubanus) can be found in Sierra Cristal.

This cascade, situated on Pinares de Mayarí plateau, is the most popular attractions of La Mensura National Park. It affords a superb view of the waters flowing down a 300 m steep slope as well as a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. Enjoy a stunning excursion that comprised a breakfast at a farm, the visit to the falls, and finished with a stop off at the Taino village. All under the expert care of a guide in acomfortable 4x4 jeep.
The falls themselves, there are 2 of them accessed from the visitor reception on one of two trails, supervised by one of the helpful and knowledgeable guides.

Gibara has a beautiful and breezy landscape, and also possesses excellent architectural designs and a well-planned layout of its streets, houses and parks. Even so, Gibara's biggest asset, according to visitors, are its people, which are described as cooperative, friendly, affectionate, and proud of their village and of its history. It is said Admiral Christopher Columbus had remarked of Gibara's environs that “it is the most beautiful land that human eyes saw.”
