The chapel of the Madeleine is located at the top of a hill of the same name of 795 meters of altitude. It is accessible on foot, via a pathway, or by road. From the summit you will enjoy a breathtaking view across the Pyrenees, including the local peaks of Orhy, Annie, Midi d'Ossau , and further afield the peak of Midi de Bigorre and the hills of Haute-Soule. It deserves a visit for the brightness of its stained glass windows and its beautifully crafted wooden interior. The establishment of a place of worship in this location is linked to the passage of pilgrims from Compostela in the Middle Ages.

This 12th century church stands in the middle of the small village of Hopital St-Blaise, on the road to Oloron-Ste-Marie. It is a Unesco sight with many rare features, including an eight pointed star set of arches under the central dome. It's name is derived from it's role in the location as a hospital to serve the pilgrims travelling down the valleys of the Pyrenees.
