Begijnhof is a women’s religious community dating back to the 14th century. The women of the Catholic sisterhood (Beguine) had lived in this secluded and quiet community that consists of housing, church and courtyard. When the Catholicism was banned from 1578 to 1795, the begijnhof was protected for these women to practice their religion because it was a private property.
When you walk into the Begijnhof, you will see the Houten Huys (timber house) built in 1528 to your right. It is one of only two remaining timber houses in Amsterdam and isthe oldest wooden house in Amsterdam.

There's also a VIP tour, where you can experience a match in a unique way from the boardroom and enjoy the view in a skybox. Children aged 5 to 12 not only learn about the stadium during the kid's tour, but also get to kick a ball around the pitch themselves.
