Pioneertown is a must-see while staying at The Seventh Ray House and it is only an 18 min scenic drive to get there. This old Wild West-inspired town was established in 1946 and has a fun Hollywood history. The small town boasts world-famous Pappy & Harriet's restaurant & music venue and the newly refurbished Red Dog Saloon (which has the best cocktails)! There are lots of little shops in the town like Pioneertown General Store (vintage shopping), MazAmar Art Pottery, and more!

The Copper Room is a revived restaurant straight out of the 1950s with a modern flare. Sitting just off the runway of the Yucca Valley Airport (yes, there is an airport out here!), there are over 50 years of history at this landmark restaurant & lounge in the heart of the High Desert. With a nod to the high-flying pilots of the 1950s, the space aims to take on a new life as the desert’s favorite gathering place known for its creative classics and yummy ice-cold martinis on the runway.
Until the early 1970s, the Copper Room was the place to be in the high desert. Frank Sinatra’s best friend, composer, and confidant, Jimmy Van Heusen was the Honorary Mayor of Yucca Valley at the time. The Copper Room existed at the nexus of golden area aviation and Rat Pack revelry. The airport lounge was a beacon for seasoned pilots and heavy-hitting musicians boasting continuous live music, cold martinis, and dancing under the stars.

This popular trail takes you into an old mining area of the park. The trailhead is located on Keys View Road, a few miles past Cap Rock. Parking is limited, so please be respectful if you get there when the parking area is full.
In the main area, you will find the remnants of a gold and silver mine. It’s great for photography - but remember - take only photos - and leave only memories.

This popular trail takes you into an old mining area of the park. The trailhead is located on Keys View Road, a few miles past Cap Rock. Parking is limited, so please be respectful if you get there when the parking area is full.
In the main area, you will find the remnants of a gold and silver mine. It’s great for photography - but remember - take only photos - and leave only memories.

Giant Rock is a large freestanding boulder in the Mojave Desert near Landers, California, and the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms. The boulder covers 5,800 square feet of ground and is seven stories high. Giant Rock is the largest freestanding boulder in North America and is purported to be the largest free-standing boulder in the world!
Fun fact about Giant Rock... in the 1950s, it was a gathering point for UFO believers. It is located on land which was at that time leased by George Van Tassel (the guy that created the Integratron) and a purported flying-saucer contactee and organizer of UFO conventions. Allegedly the meetings happened in a cave UNDER the rock. So cool.
