Abbotsbury is a picturesque sandstone village just 15 minutes drive from Moonfleet Cottage.
There are many lovely things to do at Abbotsbury:
- Visit the incredible 18 mile long Chesil Beach
- Visit Abbotsbury subtropical gardens
- Visit Abbotsbury swannery, the only managed colony of nesting mute swans in the world, dating back to 1393, with around 600 swans (you can hand-feed the swans and in the spring you can see eggs/chicks)
- There is a lovely wooden carved children's playground
- You can visit Saint Catherine's Chapel, 14th century scheduled monument, pilgrimmage chapel
- You can access the South Dorset Ridgeway with its astonishing views
