Looking to float the river but avoid the crowds?
Tumalo Park is a lovely place for o spend the day or to start your float. Parking passes are 5$ and can be obtained at the parking lot. If you put in with floats here you can either get out at the Tumalo town pull out (after you go under the 2nd bridge lpaddle to your left hands side and get out!) or head further down to Two Bridges and get out just before the falls.

Wonderful, flat hike to beautiful falls.
Staple of Bend locals with small tugboat for Little’s, playground, shade, and fields. Walk across the soccer fields and take a right to cross the Drake Park bridge and head right into downtown. A lovely walk.

Recreation
Take a left out of our drive way and then the next 2 rights, wind down the hill to Twin Bridges and park across the bridge. Here you will find our favorite secret swimming hole complete with shady trees, a small floating rapid all to yourself, flat rocks and still sections of water for Little’s, and cool water. Bring a book and set up your camp chair in the river for a perfect afternoon

Park up the road and walk down if the street is too full. An easy “one stop” dip for locals and visitors. Also a good place to play with littler kids in the sand for the morning or afternoon.

Farewell Bend Park

Stop on the way up at Growler Guys to fill up our Alpenglow growlers (under the counter but the door😉) and grab some sandwiches at Village Baker or Nancy Ps. Bring kayaks, floaters, or just yourselves to have superb Mountain View’s, easy parking, shallow water for little ones, and beautiful weather. Our family favorite for 2 generations!

Elk Lake
This is a bit of a drive (40 mins) but worth it for a day of fun and relaxation. Stop on the way up at Growler Guys to fill up our Alpenglow growlers (under the counter but the door😉) and grab some sandwiches at Village Baker or Nancy Ps. Bring kayaks, floaters, or just yourselves to have superb Mountain View’s, easy parking, shallow water for little ones, and beautiful weather. Our family favorite for 2 generations!

Half way to Elk (about 30 mins from Alpenglow) on your right. An easy, manageable hike replete with wildflowers (in season), shade, pathways, and water to dip in. Beautiful views of Bachelor and all levels of water play. Bring bug spray if in summer but not a problem with it. Lots of frogs and tadpoles in June and July:).
A gorgeous place to take a dip, hike, or bring your kayaks. Also bike trails and camping if you feel like hanging out longer. Water levels can fluctuate due to snow fall but worth the visit if just to see the views and have an exceptional picnic.

Super popular and often crowded but wonderful. Started as a food truck but quickly got landed into a brick and mortar. Delicious fusion food- hot chicken and curries are favs but tacos and steak salad are also great. Cocktails are superb.

Superb wine selection- we get most of our take-home bottles from here. Outside seating and toys/books for kids.
