It is a totally different feel. A combo coffeehouse and winery with a European flair. designed to evoke a charming Italian country house. A 15 by 30-foot waterfall is nearby, a feature sure to lure in couples looking for a romantic wedding spot. (The hotel already is the venue for about 250 weddings a year.) One acre of the property is now used to grow Cabernet, Cabernet Franc and Syrah grapes. The grapes are expected to generate about 200 cases a year, with
Pacific Ridge Vineyards making the wine.

f you’ve never been, you have to go to Calamigos Ranch. It’s only about 6 miles off the 101 freeway and Kanan Rd. in the Malibu Hills.
Calamigos Ranch has a nice big pond where you can take a pedal boat tour for free. And you can sit around the lake and have a drink or just enjoy the scenery. There’s also Malibu Cafe overlooking a nice grass area where you can sit out and relax (you can even bring your dog). You’ll definitely want to walk the grounds; it’s some of the most beautiful around.

As a wine lover, I enjoyed the extensive list of wine tasting featuring wineries from local Malibu vineyards, as well as nearby Santa Barbara and central coast wineries. There's an array of options ranging from whites to sparkling to rose and reds -- we found something to please each person in our group. You can also purchase wines by the glass or by the bottle.

You can also bring your lunch and hang out in the caves for a picnic. It’s a great easy hike that kids will love. It’s one of mine and my kids favorites.
