A natural hotspring that's only a 10min drive from the farm. In the year 1000, men from West-Iceland were baptized in this hot spring - this was when Christianity came to Iceland. The water in the spring is around 40-42°C hot, and it is heavenly soaking in it. There are no changing facilities here, but you can change in the bushes as a grove has been planted by the spring.

Þingvellir National Park - where you can walk two continens. Þingvellir is a place where Iceland’s stark geological processes are playing out right in front of you; it is where the history of the nation truly began and where almost all its major historical turns were made; and, quite simply, it is a beautiful site with a wealth of things to do. No matter your interests, you are sure to find something here that fascinates you.

Víðgelmir is perhaps the best preserved cave of the well known caves in Iceland. This is due to ice buildup during the 1960s finally closed off the only access into Víðgelmir in 1972. It was re-opened in 1994 and closed the following year with a metal gate. As such you will still find lava formations that long since have been destroyed in other well known caves. The lava field itself, Hallmundarhraun, is named after the troll Hallmundur, who is mentioned in Grettis saga (one of the Icelandic sagas). In the saga, Hallmundur helps out the main “hero”, Grettir, and then offers him to stay with him and his daughter.

The cave is an 8000 year old lava tube created by volcanic eruption from a nearby crater in the Purkhólar crater family. As the lava rushed down the hill in a lava river it began to cool on the surface, creating a crust on top of the lava river. As the eruption stopped, all the lava from underneath this crust continued to drain out. That eventually left behind empty tube with roof on top that gradually cooled down.
