The Varick Street area in Downtown Utica offers a wide range of bars and restaurants , many offering live music at night. No visit to the area is complete without a Saranac Brewery Tour at the Utica Club Brewery (now known as the Matt Brewing Co.) located in the Varick Street district in Utica. Finish the tour with a stop in their vintage tavern and sample a cold fresh brewed beer (or root beer).

Next door you’ll find the Fountain Elms historic home and museum as well as the School of Art. The campus is also home to the Pratt Institute’s upstate campus.
