This is a great spot for Apple Picking in the fall, peaches in August, and apple cider donuts year round. You also get a great view of the valley and they provide board games to sit outside and enjoy during a picnic. I recommend the hard cider if you are over 21. Off the press is the best, but they are all great.

Great pub food and great beers. You will not be disappointed with a stop here. Tuesdays have trivia and there is often live music later in the week.

Open Thursdays through Sundays, they offer a great selection of brats and pizzas. Many of the ingredients are made right there on the farm. They have good local selections on tap as well. There is ample seating outside as well as disc golf.

This is the best local vineyard in Shenandoah County. A great stop for your inner sommelier. Their canned wine is pretty good and worth picking up a four-pack. Plus you can't beat the view while you enjoy the tasting of wine paired with good snacks.

This is a very easy out and back hike on a paved trail. Total distance is about 1 mile. There's a great overlook above Luray, and it is easily accessible for all needs and ages.

An "easy" trail, because it is short, but the terrain is very rocky. Wear good trail shoes for this quick out and back. The view is spectacular over Shenandoah County to the west, and Fort Valley to the east.

Parking area to access the Mill Mountain Trail which will lead you to Big Schloss Overlook and about a 1/2 mile trek along the ridge line. Beautiful views! Again, please download all trails prior to hiking in this area.

During the summer there are some water activities and rentals available. It is also a public fishing spot. There is a trail for year round use, and it is about 3 miles long. During high water conditions, the bridge at the far end is inaccessible so you will have to do an out and back loop instead. It is a beautiful and relaxing walk.

Although it is smaller and less well-known than the nearby Luray caverns, Shenandoah caverns is a 10 min drive from the house, and worth the visit if you have the time.

Shenandoah County Hiking
Hiking in Shenandoah county can be much more remote and less traveled than you may find along the Appalachian Trail (AT) or in other counties to the east. This means that you tend to get the trails and views to yourself, but it also means you need to be well prepared. Download All-trails prior to leaving for a hike, and make sure you bring enough water, food, and first aid in the event you need to use it. I am happy to provide recommendations and advice for any of the local trails.

Groceries
There are a few close restaurants, but most are at least a 20 min drive away, so I recommend stocking up on any groceries needed for snacks, and planning breakfast and dinner ahead of time. Mondays and Tuesdays may have less restaurants open, but Woodstock does have some chains open daily.
