Usually you will see container ships coming and going just off the shore from the beach. Great restaurant options on the island also! Longboard is a very well done island decor restaurant. Poes tavern is known for their burgers. Mex 1 has great tacos and sometimes live music. Obstinate daughter has lots of great options too like their seafood pizza! This is our favorite beach to go to and it’s only about 15 minutes from the cottage. Make sure you park all 4 tires off the pavement if you park along the access roads.

Great playground for the family and access to the pedestrian path to walk along the bridge. For the easiest parking, we suggest you head to Waterfront Park in Mount Pleasant, near the Visitor Center. From there, you’ll be able to find the pedestrian path easily. There’s one lane for bikers and another for walkers. It’s important for walkers to leave enough rooms for the cyclists to pass by.

If you plan to be downtown more than a few hours, if it’s any day but Sunday, park in a deck. If you’ll be downtown under 2 hours, park at a meter. Meters are M-Sat 9a-6p, parking garages are 24/7. Here’s some info on when decks do flat rates: https://www.charleston-sc.gov/1025/Parking-Information
