This is the highstreet! There must be over a dozen coffee shops and bakeries in Kerrisdale as well as many quaint shops. This is a must visit area if you're visiting Vancouver. Many nice restaurants and as well and only about 2.2 km away. Take the bus (12-15 min) but I suggest you walk there and enjoy the neighborhood stroll.
