This history of lighthouse-keeping in Chatham goes back nearly two centuries, to when President Thomas Jefferson commissioned the first keeper of a lard-burning structure to monitor the safety of ships as they passed through the region’s rough waters. The current lighthouse was erected in 1877 and still serves as an active U.S Coast Guard station. Tours of the property are offered every Wednesday in August between 1 and 3:30 p.m.

It is a compact, very playable 9-hole course that is centrally located right in downtown Chatham. Though it is a smaller course, golfers of all levels are sure to find some challenges here. It is first come first served and is never too long of a wait during the summer season. The holes consist of mostly par 3's and 4's. A great track to play a quick round and then have the rest of the day left for beaches and exploring Chatham. Carts and rental clubs are available.
