An attractive, typical Lancashire town with a castle and museum. Well worth the 40 minute drive for its situation in the stunning Trough of Bowland countryside. Great places to eat and drink, super, independent shops. Villages close by include Sawley, with its beautiful river setting and Abbey ruins, plus one of my favourite pub-restaurants, The Spread Eagle.
