Neighborhoods
Hyde Park is a diverse neighborhood with several restaurants, a movie theater and hair salons. The area received national attention as the home of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Hyde Park is also home to the Barack Obama Presidential Center which is being built in Jackson Park.
It’s a nice place to walk around, with plenty of places to drop in for a cocktail. The area is home to a number of institutions of higher education; among these are the University of Chicago, Catholic Theological Union, Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and McCormick Theological Seminary. The area is also home to the Museum of Science and Industry and two of Chicago’s four historic sites listed in the original 1966 National Register of Historic Places.

You can easily spend an entire day here. There are tons of things to see. However, some exhibits are offered at an additional fee.
Easily accessible via one Chicago bus ride. Walk 1/2 block East to Stoney Island, cross the street and take the #6 bus. Bus fare is $2.25 for adults, $1.10 for children and children under 7 ride free. Literally less than 5 minutes on the bus. Alternatively, you could walk (it is less than 1.5 miles away).

From our unit you can get downtown by walking 1/2 block to Stoney Island and taking one bus or walking a little less than 1/2 mile to 63rd and Dorchester to the train station and taking one train.
