Railgarten is a quick 8 minute walk (0.4 miles) from our home. It's a great place to get a beer or a quick bite to eat, and it offers cornhole, pool, volleyball, and a giant playground. Railgarten hosts a variety of bands - local and out-of-towners - on a huge outdoor stage.

Sun Studio is my favorite musical museum in Memphis. The tour guides are knowledgeable, and most are musicians themselves. Sun Studios is where Elvis was discovered and where other musical legends have recorded (and continue to record).

Overton Park is a nice green space in midtown with a dog park and wide walking/biking trails. If you wander off the larger paved paths, you’ll find yourself in the Old Forest, the “only old-growth forest in the Southeast to be located in an urban environment.”

The Civil Rights Museum covers a huge swath of history from the early days of the slave trade through the Civil Rights movement. There are even exhibits about Memphis’s role in the Black Lives Matter and discussion about MLK’s legacy.

I recommend grabbing a drink to-go and walking along the street to soak in the music and atmosphere.

Big River Crossing is the name for the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Mississippi alongside the Harahan Bridge. Halfway across the bridge, you step into Arkansas and get a great view of the Memphis skyline and the de Soto Bridge.

Shelby Farms Park a huge park in east Memphis, complete with dog parks, bike paths, and a lake for canoeing and kayaking. The park is even home to a herd of buffalo that roam on a 15-acre range. Go Ape is a high-ropes adventure course in the park that has miles of self-guided obstacle courses and zip lines.
