At the bottom of the steps head to the left, there are more mild slides and swimming holes to relax in. There is also a rock you can jump off in this area too.
If you head right from the stairs about a mile up is flat rock. During high water levels this turns into another slide that is really smooth and can be a blast.

Our favorite hiking trail in Ohiopyle is Ferncliff. Cross the first bridge from town and head down the steps on the left at the end of bridge. Hike along the river towards the fall. Directly at the Falls there is a natural staitcase on your right, there are yellow blazes on the rocks that will take you onto the trail and to Lover's Leap, a great stopping point to see the falls. Use a map to find the foundation of the old hotel built there a century ago.
