Visit this fascinating self sufficient 18th century Welsh minor gentry estate. Walk around and see the service courtyard with dairy, laundry, brewery, salting house and walled kitchen gardens. There is plenty to explore in the house, the grounds and there are many peaceful walks surrounding the estate. Amongst the local wildlife you’ll find Welsh Black cattle, Llanwenog sheep and rare Welsh pigs. In the school holidays they have daily family activities like gardening, cooking and nature/farm walks.

Take a gentle stroll around the lake and watch the majestic Red Kites feeding. Then treat yourself to a spot of lunch or afternoon tea in the cafe. Here you will also find a series of bicycle trails ranging in difficulty levels.

Ceredigion Coastal Path
Llanon is a virtual midpoint of the Ceredigion Coastal Path walk that runs from Ynys Las to Cardigan. It is a beautiful walk covering all the towns and villages on its route and may be walked in easy sections. From Llanon, the walk to Aberaeron has some lovely views over the sea. Heading towards Llanrhystud you will find Lime Kilns on a more inland walk, before heading back towards to the seafront.
We have walked the majority of Ceredigion’s costal path and this is the perfect base to head out from. There are regular service buses travelling up and down the coast making it easy to get around. The bus stop is 20 metres from our cottage.

Beach
Llanon Beach car park is located at the end of Heol Y Mor adjacent to the Plas Morfa Hotel and the Afon Cledan river. The beach can also be accessed from a number steps that come down from the village near the playing field. It is a dog friendly beach mainly stone and shingle but with patches of sand. When the tide is out there are plenty of rock pools to investigate. This is an ideal start point for the Ceredigion Coastal Path heading south towards Aberaeron and Newquay. As you head towards Aberarth, when the tide is out, you can see the remains of ancient fishing pools that were created by the monks of Strata Florida Abbey.

Within 50 yards of the cottage you’ll find a tennis court and multi sport court which will keep the children busy for hours. Take a 5 minute walk towards the sea and you’ll find a play area and football pitch or simply take in the sea air.
