Avalon and Bellevue are the first neighborhoods to the northwest directly outside of the Pittsburgh city limits. These combined communities are in an up and coming area that has been undergoing revitalization efforts, so that they now offer trendy options for shopping and eating, and have become the home to many young professionals and families. There are restaurants, bars, grocery stores, fast food, parks, public pools, libraries, a post office, and places of worship all within walking distance.
Getting around: The public bus line runs on a regular schedule directly from the main street through these communities to both the North Side (where both PNC Park and Heinz Field, as well as the Carnegie Science Center, are located) and downtown Pittsburgh.
