Really popular and vibey local restaurant/cocktail bar. Highly recommended. Brilliant food. Can be a bit raucous!

The best wood-fired pizza this side of Naples! I'm a big fan of all things Italian, and having spent weekends sampling all the pizza Naples has to offer, this is a close second. The wine list and the cocktails are also brilliant, and the small plates are just as interesting.

This a small drinkers only pub, just down the road from us at The Stables. The atmosphere is always great, and full of locals. It's a small place, and feels more like being sat in someone's living room. There is also a great little beer garden out the back for a nice day!

Great local pub with outdoor courtyard and friendly staff. Fun menu of pizzas, hotdogs and burgers, with regular specials. Occasionally they have live music out the back. Well worth a visit.

Hip and happening bakery/brunch spot out in Greenodd, which is fast becoming a vibrant food spot in itself. They also do pop-up burger & pizza nights for eat-in & takeaway, with a range of craft beers to wash it all down with. The garden out back is great in the summer months. Highly recommended.

Sightseeing

A must do walk when staying in Ulverston, ‘The Hoad’ boasts panoramic views over The Lake District fells, and right the way across Morecambe Bay. Take a right out of our gateway, go through the little kissing gate, and just follow the path up! You can make this a circular walk back to The Stables by heading down the other side of the hill, and following the path right along to Ford Park. Bear right at the gateway (instead of left to the park), and follow the ginnel past St. Mary’s hospice. A little further on, take a sharp right up another small ginnel, back to the bottom of our road on Belmont. A bit hard to describe... but just follow your nose!

An interesting and historic walk along the old canal, known for being the straightest canal in Britain! At 1.25 miles long exactly, it’s perfect for a short easy-going stroll. You are also rewarded at the end with some greats views across Morecambe Bay, and a small pub/restaurant offering food & drinks to enjoy, whilst taking it all in!

An interesting and tranquil place to enjoy a few hours on a sunny afternoon. You can take a stroll around the grounds of The Priory, all the way down to the beach and back through the gardens, before ending up in the cafe to enjoy a selection of homemade cakes and soups. The temple is fascinating to walk around, and if you really need to unwind & take your mind off things, you can even participate in a guided meditation at 14:30 every day!

Aldingham is one of those well kept secrets. It’s a little hamlet/village found 2-3 miles outside of Ulverston, boasting a beach, a 12th Century Church, and remains of an even older castle. It’s much quieter than it’s more popular counterpart Bardsea beach, which can be found further up the road... but that’s fine with us. We like to park up a little way down the beach, get out the picnic blanket and tuck into some sandwiches, crisps & maybe a bottle of Prosecco.
